A quiet shift…
The work here is quietly shifting toward a practice of accompaniment.
I am beginning to see myself as a companion—not only to fellow human beings, but also to the more-than-human world we share. This does not reject other modes of leadership or heroism. Rather, it foregrounds a subtler posture: being part of life rather than standing above it. In a world overheated by extraction, urgency, and self-appointed saviours, companionship (the who) and accompaniment (the how) feel like an appropriate response.
Soul-work is sometimes seen as inner work, and that has its place, to create and be space for the world. Accompaniment, compliments this as an outward-tending, self-uncentring practice—a way of being with others, with situations, and with life itself through affectionate attention, commitment, and sometimes mischief. It is a mode rooted more in friendship than holiness, and perhaps for that reason, it is the form of soul-work I find myself increasingly called toward.
